Daily Notes
Saturday was the highlight for me. Each team played two innings against the coaches on the big stadium field. It was my turn to pitch. To make a long story short I struck out two major league players; their names will not be disclosed though. I allowed one hit to Lou Klimchock, a fly ball out to Dale Sveum, a couple ground outs to Ed Sedar and Bob Skube and no runs in 2 innings. Mike Fetters was pitching for the coaches, and probably throwing too hard for us amateurs. The first pitch he threw me went sailing over my head. Three pitches later he drilled me right in the back. I stood there for a moment trying not to drop to my knees in agony. We ended the 2-inning game in a tie. Later that night I got my picture taken with Bill Schroeder and Jerry Augustine to remember the moment.
